Get your salt levels right before starting your Generator

Have a Salt Pool?  If you drained water to close the pool last year, your salt levels likely are low right now.  Make sure to add Bioguard Beginnings or Pristiva Salt right away to prevent your generator from overworking.

Low salt can cause your generator to stop working.

When your pool is low on salt the generator has to work harder to acheive the same chlorine levels, which can cause it to burn out more quickly.  At certain levels the generator will not even turn on, so for the best results make sure your salt levels are in line.  Each generator has slightly different regulations, so check your generator to find out where your levels should be.
